Stay Cool!

The thermometer topped out at 99 degrees in Greensboro, N.C., during Monday's practice round. That left players, spectators, staff and afternoon Junior-Am participants looking for ways to stay cool. Pictured above:

1) AJGA staff had their hands full Monday trying to keep water coolers filled with cold beverages.

2) The Sedgefield Country Club maintenance crew kept a close eye on the greens, syringing them throughout the afternoon to keep the greens in excellent condition. (Editor's note: They are doing a wonderful job, as the greens are truly immaculate.) On the bright side, the Bermuda fairways love the heat.

3) The greens aren't the only beneficiaries of the giant fans, as Andrew Yun finds a brief respite in the cool breeze.

4) The practice putting green at 3 p.m. was a lonely place, as most players who played in the morning practice round chose to go indoors during the heat of the afternoon.

Fortunately, the forecast says that Monday's heat will be the worst of the week. While Tuesday's first round will see temps in the mid-90s, the rest of the week top out in the 80s. After Monday's and Tuesday's furnace, that might feel like an arctic blast.
