HOFFMANN CLAIMS THIRD INVITATIONAL VICTORY

HUMBLE, Texas — Morgan Hoffmann, 17, of Saddlebrook, N.J., dueled hefty wind conditions and stiff competition to hold off Cody Gribble of Dallas, on the 54th hole at Redstone Golf Club to win the Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone presented by HP and Administaff. Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone presented by HP and Administaff was a 54-hole stroke play event held at Redstone Golf Club's Tournament Course, home of the PGA TOUR's Shell Houston Open. The 78-player field featured 15 players from Texas and 20 Rolex Junior All-Americans. In all, 19 states and eight foreign countries were represented. The par-72 layout played at 7,376 yards. Though he only carded one birdie on the back nine, Hoffmann used pars to pull even with Gribble. His final-round 73 was the day's lowest score, which helped him to a 2-under-par 214 total and a three-shot victory.
