The Final Four...
Winther, Paolini, Lee, Shin advance to championship matches

After two rounds of stroke play and four rounds of match play, four players remain for the championship matches of the 2008 Polo Golf Junior Classic. Brinson Paolini of Virginia Beach, Va., defeated Niclas Carlsson of Enebyberg, Sweden, 1-up to move on to the final match. He will take on Patrick Winther of Rungsted Kyst, Denmark, who won over Julian Suri of St. Augustine, Fla., also 1-up.

In the Girls Division, No. 5 seed Jung Min Lee of Seoul, South Korea, defeated Ani Gulugian of Irvine, Calif., 3 and 2. On the other side of the bracket Jenny Shin of Torrance, Calif., defeated Stephanie Kim of Orlando, Fla., 4 and 3 to move on to the final match. The girls will tee off after the boys on No. 1 of Ginn's Independence (Watson) course.

Suri in a Hurry...
Florida native first to advance to semifinal round

Julian Suri won his quarterfinal match 6 and 5 over Andrew Yun.

Julian Suri of St. Augustine, Fla., defeated Andrew Yun of Chandler, Ariz., 6 and 5 in their quarterfinal match Thursday morning to advance to the afternoon's semifinal round. Suri will face Patrick Winther of Rungsted Kyst, Denmark, who advanced after a 1-up victory over James Back of Cerritos, Calif. Niclas Carlsson of Enebyberg, Sweden, also advanced, winning over Jeffery Kang of Fullerton, Calif., 3 and 2. Carlsson will face Brinson Paolini of Virginia Beach, Va., who defeated Juan Pablo Hernandez of Mexico City, Mexico, 1-up.

In the Girls Division, Ani Gulugian of Irvine, Calif., who defeated No. 1 seeded Jane Rah in the second round Wednesday, moved on to the semifinals by winning over Madison Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla., 2 and 1. Gulugian will face off against Jung Min Lee of Seoul, South Korea. Lee won over Lauren Weaver of Scottsdale, Ariz., 5 and 3. The other semifinal in the Girls Division has Jenny Shin of Torrance, Calif., going against Stephanie Kim from Orlando, Fla.

Field thins as quarterfinal matches tee off

The remaining players at the Polo Golf Junior Classic have their great golf game to be thankful for as quarterfinal matches get underway Thursday morning at Ginn Reunion Resort. Nos. 1 and 2 in each division have fallen, while the two No. 3 seeds - Patrick Winther of Rungsted Kyst, Denmark, and Stephanie Kim of Orlando, Fla. - remain.

Of the final eight in the Boys Division, three are international players. Joining Winther are Juan Pablo Hernandez of Mexico City, Mexico, and Niclas Carlsson of Enebyberg, Sweden. The Girls Division features Jenny Shin of Torrance, Calif., who won the 2006 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, and Victoria Kiser of Orlando, Fla., who won four AJGA events in 2008.
