Captain - Nancy Lopez
Who better to captain the U.S. PING Junior Solheim Cup team than the 2005 U.S. Solheim Cup team captain? Nancy Lopez brings 32 years of professional experience to the U.S. team. Throughout her career, Lopez has been victorious at 48 LPGA Tour events, including winning three trophies at the LPGA Championship.
Over the years, she has accumulated many awards and accolades, including LPGA Rookie of the Year (1978), LPGA Tour Player of the Year (1978, '79, '85, '88), and the LPGA Vare Trophy (1978, '79, '85). In 1978, Lopez became the only woman ever to receive all three of these honors in the same season.
In 1990, Lopez participated in the inaugural Solheim Cup, recording a record of 2-1-0. Fifteen years later, she would return to The Solheim Cup stage, this time as a captain. Under her leadership, the U.S. team reclaimed the Cup, scoring 15.5 to the European team’s 12.5.
