Communications In-House Internships
DATES:
Flexible
DESCRIPTION: The AJGA is looking for qualified applicants
to serve as in-house communications interns in our Braselton
office. Internships are offered year round; typical internships
last 3-4 months (dates flexible). Our internship is a great
way for students or recent graduates to get hands-on public
relations experience. Many full-time AJGA employees come through
the internship program.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in sports information, media relations or
with a newspaper
Excellent news writing and editing skills, with the
ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Working knowledge of MAC computers and QuarkXPress
Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge preferred
Ability to work and communicate in a team atmosphere
DUTIES:
Writing press releases and tournament fact sheets
Preparing tournament programs
Updating results binders and player bios
Tournament media relations
Other communications-related projects
Some filing and other PAY: Competitive hourly rate
ASSOCIATION: The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA)
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth
and development of young men and women who aspire to earn
college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
AJGA alumni include Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Davis Love
III, Mike Weir, David Toms, Laura Diaz, Cristie Kerr, Grace
Park, Dottie Pepper and Sherri Steinhauer. Those interested
in applying should send a cover letter, resume and three writing
samples (AP Style/news writing). Applications will be accepted
until the positions are filled.
