Steel City Junior Classic to be Held at Totteridge Golf Club

Totteridge Golf Club will play host to the AJGA's Steel City Junior Classic July 21-24, the AJGA announced Tuesday. Located in Greensburg, the new course will see top juniors from around the nation compete in the 54-hole, stroke play event.

“The AJGA is excited to bring a tournament to this area of the country,” said Peter Ripa, AJGA chief operations officer. “Totteridge is one of Pittsburgh best new courses, and we look forward to a fine event there.”

The Steel City event is one of 70 tournaments the AJGA will conduct in 2003. The open tournament will feature boys and girls ages 13-18 from the Pittsburgh area and around the nation.

“Totteridge Golf Club is extremely excited to host the Steel City Junior Classic in its inaugural season,” said Sean Farren, Totteridge Golf Club’s head pro. “Western Pennsylvania is famous for hosting some of the premier championships in golf, and we are excited that the AJGA will become part of that tradition.”

Totteridge’s par-72, links-style course offers a demanding 7,154 yards from the back tees. The course’s signature is its use of natural fairway mounding, selective bunkering and lightning fast greens to provide junior players’ continuous challenges.
