Newsmakers (May 2): Rosales Captures First LPGA Victory

Jennifer Rosales, 1996 and 1997 Rolex Junior All-American

Jennifer Rosales of Rowland Heights, Calif., shot a final-round, seven-under-par 65 Sunday to grab her first LPGA victory at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez.

Rosales, a two-time Rolex Junior All-American, shot rounds of 70-70-69-65—274 to finish one shot clear of a group of four players.

LPGA rookie and AJGA alumna Aree Song, the Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2000 and a three-time Rolex Junior All-American, held the lead after three rounds before Rosales came away with the victory.

Ryuji Imada, the Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 1995, won his second Nationwide Tour title after enduring a five-hole playoff with Paul Gow at the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs. Imada fired rounds of 70-66-65-69—270 to claim his first Nationwide Tour victory since the 2000 Virginia Beach Open.

In addition to being named the Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 1995, Imada also collected four consecutive Rolex Junior All-America honors from 1992-1995.
