A Call for Sportsmanship Nominees

Have you observed an AJGA golfer who epitomizes sportsmanship? The AJGA is currently seeking nominations for the 2006 Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award. Recent recipients of this award have been noted for attributes such as honesty, volunteerism, on-course camaraderie, graciousness and overcoming adversity - both on and off the golf course.

Some of the names of the past recipients are recognizable from their outstanding collegiate or pro careers (2006 NCAA Champion Jonathan Moore, as well as Jason Gore, Steve Flesch and Virada Nirapathpongporn). Others have found careers outside of golf. But, undoubtedly, the character attributes they displayed to receive this award have served them well in life.

Nominations for the 2006 Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award will be accepted through September 28. To properly nominate an AJGA member for this award, please e-mail the following information to sportsmanship@ajga.org:

1. Junior golfer's name and hometown
2. Your name and phone number for follow-up
3. Your relationship to the junior golfer
4. Reason for nomination (state the case for the junior)

Only nominations that properly include all the above information will be considered. The award recipient will be honored at the 2006 Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet at Sea Island, Ga.
