Former AJGA Player Dies in Car Accident


Travis Smith won the 2005 Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior.

It is with a heavy heart that the AJGA announces the passing of Travis Smith.

Smith, 19, of Terre Haute, Ind., died Saturday, January 27 at the scene of a two-car accident in Muncie, Ind., The Tribune Star reported.

According to news reports, Smith was a passenger in one of the cars with two other Ball State University students, neither of whom where seriously injured.

A freshman member of the Ball State men's golf team, Smith tied for 15th in his first collegiate tournament in September. While playing with the AJGA, he won the 2005 Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior. The victory helped Smith earn honorable mention Rolex Junior All-America honors in 2005.
