Mike Summa of The Stanwich Club receives AJGA Golf Professional of the Year Award

BRASELTON, Ga. —Mike Summa of The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn., has been recognized by the American Junior Golf Association with the Golf Professional of the Year Award, given annually to the PGA professional whose selfless commitment and tireless efforts make the tournament he or she is involved with special for the players, families and staff in attendance.

Summa was the driving force in bringing the Canon Cup to The Stanwich Club in 2008. After experiencing the AJGA as Master Head Professional at the Apawamis Club, host of the 1997 AJGA Marsh Junior, Summa knew the electric atmosphere of a national junior event. He worked tirelessly to ensure that the event was successful; securing courtesy cars for the week of the tournament, helping organize a sightseeing dinner cruise of New York, accommodating every need of the AJGA staff, and being a visible presence throughout the tournament week.

“I am honored to even be considered for this prestigious award,” Summa said. “The praise of our event should really go to the AJGA Staff and the professional job they did. It has been an honor to be a part of the AJGA family for more than10 years and to bring a national junior golf event to our membership.”
