Impressing the Duke

For the second consecutive year, the United States has sent two of the nation’s top juniors to compete in the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy.
Cody Proveaux of Leesville, S.C., and Taylor Coleman of San Antonio made the trip to Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England, September 13 – 15, to compete in the invitation-only 54-hole stroke play event.
The 10th annual event has boys and girls competing for the same trophy. Tough conditions made it difficult for players to score low, but Proveaux used a final-round 71 to finish fifth, only three strokes off the champion Harry Casey of England.
Last year the U.S. sent Rolex Junior Players of the Year Anthony Paolucci and Kristen Park. Past participants include Rory McIroy, Laetitia Beck, and 2009 champion Moriya Jutanugarn.
