The American Junior Golf Association will conduct a new event in 2012 targeted at providing 72 unsigned male seniors the opportunity to compete in front of college golf coaches in December.

The event will be a 36-hole stroke play event held Dec. 7-9 at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas. The event will coincide with the timing of the convention for the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) men’s coaches in Las Vegas to provide one last look at the seniors available for recruitment in the 2013 season.

“This event embodies the AJGA Mission Statement and true purpose,” said Mark Oskarson, AJGA Chief Operations Officer. “A college golf scholarship is the dream for our juniors and any opportunity to provide them with more chances to make that dream come true is something we believe in.”

Applications for the event must meet the following criteria:

·         Male applicants graduating from high school in 2013

·         Current AJGA membership for 2012 or 2013 seasons

·         Applicant must not have committed / been accepted to a college at the time of application or tournament start date such that the player is available for recruitment and uncommitted to a school.

·         Players who sign National Letters of Intent during the November signing period or who give verbal commitments at any time leading up to the event should not apply and will be withdrawn from consideration.

Additional details regarding the event will be provided at a later date.
