AJGA alum Brandon Hagy was named the recipient of the 2014 Byron Nelson Award. A senior at the University of California Berkeley, Hagy was one of five finalists including his teammate Joel Stalter (California), Jack Perry (Northwestern), Cory Whitsett (Alabama) and Cameron Wilson (Stanford).

The Byron Nelson Award is presented annually to a graduating senior based on collegiate academics, golf career and his character and integrity while in college.

While at Berkeley, Hagy has placed in the top five 17 times and posted 21 top 10s. He has two wins in 2014, one at The Aggie Invitational and another at the Arizona Intercollegiate. He is currently ranked No. 7 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, is a semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award and is a 2014 Palmer Cup selection. Hagy will graduate from California’s business school later this month.

In his junior golf career, Hagy put together four top-15 finishes. His best showing was a runner-up finish at the 2006 Preseason Junior at Rancho Mirage. In 2008, he was named an HP Scholastic Junior All-American.
