Wyndham Cup: Meet the East Team

The East (9-13-2) looks to bring home the Cup for the first time since 2011. The East squad boasts 10 returning players from previous Wyndham Cups, one more than the West.
 

East Boys
 
John Augenstein
Hailing from Owensboro, Kentucky, Augenstein will make his Wyndham Cup debut after a strong start to the 2014 season, winning the Wells Fargo Junior Classic presented by Mizuno. The No. 29 junior in the Polo Golf Rankings was named a 2013 Rolex Junior All-American and was runner-up at the 2013 Bridgestone Golf / Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior presented by Toyota.
 
Jorge Garcia
Garcia, a Miami native, comes in at No. 11 in the Polo Golf Rankings. The University of Florida verbal commit won the Puerto Rico Junior Open and Thunderbird International Junior, both in 2013, and the 2014 TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook hosted by Sean O’Hair and went 3-1-0 in the 2013 Wyndham Cup.
 
Doug Ghim
A three-time Rolex Junior All-American, Ghim resides at No. 6 in the Polo Golf Rankings. This will mark his second Wyndham Cup (2012). The four-time AJGA champion and Arlington Heights, Illinois, native, has 11 top-five finishes and signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Texas. He captured his signature win in 2014 at the CB&I Boys Championship at Carlton Woods. 
 
Benjamin Griffin
The winner of the 2013 Rolex Tournament of Champions adds more Wyndham Cup experience to the East’s roster, having competed in 2013. Residing in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the 2013 Rolex Junior All-American will compete at the University of North Carolina starting in the fall. At No. 13 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Griffin has accumulated five top-five finishes throughout his AJGA career.
 
Nick Hardy
Nick Hardy will make his Wyndham Cup debut at No. 15 in the Polo Golf Rankings. The native of Northbrook, Illinois, was a 2013 Rolex Junior All-American and won the 2013 AJGA Stonehenge Junior Open. Hardy has five AJGA top-10 finishes on his record and he will play collegiately at the University of Illinois this fall.
 
Theo Humphrey
Theo Humphrey will compete in his second consecutive Wyndham Cup. The two-time winner of the AJGA Philadelphia Junior (2012-13) has signed a National Letter of Intent with Vanderbilt. Humphrey, of Greenwich, Connecticut, was named a 2013 Rolex Junior All-American and is No. 21 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
Davis Riley
Riley, a two-time Rolex Junior All-American, will also compete in his first Wyndham Cup. The Alabama verbal commit has compiled career top-five finishes, and was runner-up at the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The Hattiesburg, Mississippi, native comes in at No. 16 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
Qi Wen Wong
Wong of Singapore by way of Bradenton, Florida, makes his Wyndham Cup debut. At No. 24 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Wong has amassed five top-10 finishes since 2012, including a runner-up showing at the 2013 Under Armour® / Steve Marino Championship, and he won the 2013 Scott Robertson Memorial.
 
Adam Wood
The 2013 and 2014 runner-up at the Rolex Tournament of Champions will compete in his third consecutive Wyndham Cup. The 2012 Polo Golf Junior Classic champion has signed a National Letter of Intent with Duke University. Wood of Zionsville, Indiana, comes in at No. 14 in the Polo Golf Rankings and is a three-time Rolex Junior All-American.
 
Andy Zhang
Zhang, the 2014 Thunderbird International Junior champion, will make his Wyndham Cup debut after earning Rolex Junior All-America accolades in 2013. The Reunion, Florida, native was the youngest player to ever compete in the U.S. Open at the age of 14 in 2012 and is the highest-ranked boy at No. 2 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
East Girls
 
Shannon Brooks
Brooks enters her first Wyndham Cup coming off an impressive 2014 Rolex Tournament of Champions, where she finished T4. As a junior, the Tennessee verbal commit out of Vienna, Virginia, also won the 2013 William Penn Junior Championship, has five top-five finishes and is currently No. 35 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
Sierra Brooks
Hailing from Sorrento, Florida, Brooks will compete in her third Wyndham Cup (4-3-1 in 2012-13) after being named a Rolex Junior All-American in each of the last three years. The winner of the 2013 AJGA Girls Championship has collected four victories and 15 top-10 finishes since 2011. Brooks, the No. 15 player in the Polo Golf Rankings, has verbally committed to the University of Florida.
 
Abbey Carlson
The 2013 first-team Rolex Junior All-American out of Lake Mary, Florida, will compete in her second straight Wyndham Cup. Carlson, the No. 26 player in the Polo Golf Rankings, has amassed 14 top-10 finishes since 2010, including a victory at the 2012 Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands and has verbally committed to Vanderbilt.
 
Rachel Dai
As a two-time Rolex Junior All-American, Dai of Milton, Georgia, returns to the East team after competing in the 2013 Wyndham Cup. The University of Pennsylvania verbal commit won the 2010 Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star and currently sits at No. 42 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
Jillian Hollis
Hollis will make her debut at the Wyndham Cup, after finishing in the top 10 at the 2014 Rolex Tournament of Champions and 2014 Rolex Girls Junior Championship. The Rocky River, Ohio, native has verbally committed to the University of Georgia and sits at No. 21 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
 
Rinko Mitsunaga
Mitsunaga is one of three University of Georgia commits for the East and is making her Wyndham Cup debut in 2014. The three-time AJGA champion is currently No. 25 in the Polo Golf Rankings and has compiled nine top-five finishes. The native of Roswell, Georgia, was a Rolex Junior All-American in 2011 and 2013.     
 
Anna Newell
The champion of the 2014 TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook hosted by Sean O'Hair will return to the Wyndham Cup after competing in 2012. Newell, No. 19 in the Polo Golf Rankings, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Tennessee. The Tampa, Florida, native has collected 10 top-10 finishes in her AJGA career.
 
Sophia Schubert
Schubert, a 2012 Rolex Junior All-American, will make her Wyndham Cup debut. The Oak Ridge, Tennessee, native possesses two AJGA titles – the 2013 Lipari Energy Junior Championship and the 2012 Bridgestone Golf / Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior presented by Toyota. The No. 30 player in the Polo Golf Rankings has signed a National Letter of Intent with Auburn.
 
Lauren Stephenson
Stephenson, No. 24 in the Polo Golf Rankings, recently won the 2014 Wells Fargo Junior Classic presented by Mizuno. The win gave the Lexington, South Carolina, native her fifth AJGA title. The Clemson verbal commit will make her Wyndham Cup debut.
 
Bailey Tardy
Tardy enters the Wyndham Cup as the No. 13 girl in the Polo Golf Rankings. The third University of Georgia commitment from the East, Tardy is a three-time AJGA champion and has 10 top-10 finishes. The 2013 Rolex Junior All-American from Norcross, Georgia, will compete in the Wyndham Cup for the second time.
