  • Fast Start: Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Hawaii, Jillian Hollis of Rocky River, Ohio, and Clare Amelia Legaspi of Temecula, California, are a combined 10-under-par on the front nine during the first two days of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. If any of the girls in contention can capitalize on the front side, they could potentially separate themselves from the field.

  • Slaying the Beast: No. 16 proved to be the most difficult hole during the second round. The field played the 177-yard par-3 hole in 3.68 strokes making it the only hole that played more than a half stroke over par. Rino Sasaki of Bradenton, Florida, captured the only birdie on No. 16. As a whole, the back nine has proven to be the more difficult side.

  • Catching Fire: Birdies on Nos. 1-5 changed the direction of Legaspi’s round. She carded a 5-under-par 31 on the front nine to vault her into the third round’s final pairing. Moving day will provide a number of girls in contention the opportunity to make a similar charge into one of the final pairing.
