Upon entering Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, colorful flowers spill onto the cobblestones and colorful flags from around the world take center stage. Nine country flags representing the 72-player field stand tall behind the girls this week at the Yani Tseng Invitational presented by the Swinging Skirts.

In its second edition, the Invitational will feature players from Australia, China, India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States. Within the U.S., 11 states will be represented, thanks to the efforts of Yani Tseng and the Swinging Skirts Golf Foundation.

In efforts to grow the game of women’s golf, the Swinging Skirts Golf Foundation, a non-profit organization based out of Taiwan, has partnered with Tseng to invite the top girls from around the world, including 11 from Taiwan, to the tournament in Rancho Sante Fe, California, from June 28-July 1. For Yu Sang Hou of Taipei City, Taiwan, it’s an honor to play in Tseng’s tournament.

“I’m very happy I can play here,” Hou said. “It’s Yani Tseng’s Invitational. It’s very cool because she’s Taiwanese, and she hosts this event in America, so it’s a good experience.”

Also included in the field are five of the top-10 girls in the Polo Golf Rankings, 33 verbal or written commitments for college golf, 23 Rolex Junior All-Americans, 38 AJGA champions and 26 total international players.

This week, the girls will also get to challenge Tseng in a skills contest after the second round. The social activity will feature a hula-hoop contest, dizzy chip and marshmallow long-drive contest, giving the girls an opportunity to interact and learn from one of the most successful international stars in the game.
