August 14, 2015 - Ten juniors earn victories

AJGA Junior at The Foundry presented by M&E Contractors

Youngin Chun of Austin, Texas, won the Girls Division after shooting 2-over-par 218 at the AJGA Junior at The Foundry presented by M&E Contractors. Chun, a 2014 Rolex Junior All-American, carded seven birdies on the tournament for the three-stroke victory and her second AJGA victory in 2015.

In the Boys Division, Jimmie Massie of Lynchburg, Virginia, finished at 3-under-par 213 to claim the title at The Foundry Golf Club. The 15-year-old tallied five final-round birdies to match the low round of the tournament at 4-under-par 68 and win in his first AJGA event.

Junior All-Star at Lost Springs presented by Visit Bentonville

Wil Gibson of Jonesboro, Arkansas, shot 7-under-par 209 to win the Boys Division at the Junior All-Star at Lost Springs presented by Visit Bentonville. The 15-year-old led wire-to-wire, carding 14 birdies and an eagle on the tournament for the three-stroke victory and his first AJGA title.

In the Girls Division, Grace Ni of Cypress, Texas, topped the leaderboard with a tournament total of 2-under-par 214 at Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club. Ni, 14, tallied eight birdies and an eagle during the tournament, leading wire-to-wire for her first AJGA win.

New Era Junior Championship

Ben Reichert of East Amherst, New York, birdied his last two holes to card an even-par 72 in the final round, winning the New Era Junior Championship with a tournament total 7-under-par 209. The East Tennessee State University commit has won two straight titles after also winning the New York State Junior Amateur Golf Championship on Aug. 5.

Carolyn Markley of Maineville, Ohio, won her first AJGA title in her final junior event at 1-over-par 217 tournament total at Harvest Hill Golf CourseThe Michigan State University commit built upon a three-stroke second-round lead to win by seven, and fired the low final-round score with a 2-over-par 74.

BBCN Bank Junior All-Star

Ricky Castillo of Yorba Linda, California, led wire-to-wire to win the BBCN Bank Junior All-Star at 9-under-par 207. The 14-year-old collected 13 birdies and an eagle throughout the tournament to earn a three-stroke victory and his first AJGA career victory.  

In the Girls Division, Angelina Kim of Los Angeles, topped the Girls Division after shooting 6-under-par 210 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. The 12-year-old took sole possession of the lead in the second round and fired a 6-under-par 66 in the final round to secure her first AJGA title.

Junior All-Star at Chantilly Nationa l

Valeria Sofia Pacheco of Hallandale Beach, Florida, defeated Amy Zhang of Lake Mary, Florida, in a sudden-death playoff to win the Junior All-Star at Chantilly National with a 3-over-par 219. Pacheco, 15, had a share of the lead through all three rounds, carding seven birdies to claim her second AJGA title of 2015.

In the Boys Division, Michael Sanders of Davidson, North Carolina, shot a 2-under-par 214 to win at Chantilly National Golf & Country Club. A verbal commit to the Louisiana State University, Sanders collected nine birdies on the way to a five-stroke victory and his first AJGA win.
