Former Rolex Junior All-American and AJGA Player Representative Mariah Stackhouse set an NCAA women’s scoring record after she shot a 10-under-par 61 at Stanford Golf Course during the final round of the Peg Barnard Invitational. The previous scoring record stood at 9-under-par, a record held by several current players including AJGA alumnae Emily Tubert, Grace Na and Elizabeth Janangelo.
Stackhouse shot 26 on the front nine en route to win the individual title. Her 61 also set the course record at Stanford Golf Course.
Stackhouse recorded four career AJGA victories including back-to-back wins at the AJGA Junior at Steelwood presented by AT&T (2010 and 2011). She was named a Rolex Junior All-American three times, represented the East at the Wyndham Cup in 2011 and 2012, and competed in the 2011 PING Junior Solheim Cup. Stackhouse served as the 2011 Player Representative on the AJGA Board of Directors.
John Merrick collected his first career PGA TOUR victory by defeating Charlie Beljan in a sudden-death playoff at the Northern Trust Open. Merrick posted a final-round 69 to finish at 11-under-par for the tournament to earn a spot in the playoff, which he won on the second playoff hole.
During his junior career, Merrick posted five AJGA top-20 finishes highlighted by a tie for sixth at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2000.
The California-native attended UCLA where he earned a Pac-10 championship and collected All-America honors twice. Merrick qualified for five straight U.S. Amateurs during his collegiate career.
