At the age of 14, Tianlang Guan will make his Masters debut as the youngest player in the tournament’s history. The China native earned the Masters berth via a win at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in November 2012.

“This [success] has had no effect on my career goal,” Guan said. “I’ve had a dream since I was a little boy. I wish to one day win all four Majors in one year.”

Guan, who has focused mostly on his short game in preparation for Augusta National, becomes the first current AJGA member since 2010 to earn a spot at The Masters.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying The Masters and showing my best to everyone,” Guan said.

He made his first AJGA appearance at the 2011 Emerson Junior Classic where he finished seventh. In 2012, he finished runner-up at the AJGA Junior Open at The Legends.

With his success in Asia and his landmark appearance at Augusta, Guan looks to enjoy his amateur status and maintain his future career goals.

“I’m just 14 years old and school is very important to me,” Guan said. “I think going to a good college would be great. Being a professional golfer is a long journey, so for now, I will enjoy my amateur years as much as I can. No matter what I do in the future, I will try my best.”

Guan will tee off during the first round of The Masters at 12:24 p.m. EST with Ben Crenshaw and Matteo Manaserro, who previously held the record for youngest participant for his 2010 debut at the age of 16.
