AJGA alum and PGA TOUR player Ryan Moore will partner with the AJGA in 2013 to host a national junior golf event, July 1-4. The Ryan Moore Junior Championship will be held at RMG Club at Oakbrook in Lakewood, Wash. The 54-hole, stroke play event will feature 96 of the nation’s top male and female junior golfers ages 12-18.

“The AJGA provided an incredible tournament schedule, top-level, national competition and professionally-run events that really prepared me for my next step into collegiate and amateur competition,” Moore said. “It was only natural for me to want to provide the same opportunity for juniors to come to my home course and enjoy the same opportunities I had growing up in the AJGA."

This is the first time since 2010 the AJGA has conducted an event in Washington. It will be the first AJGA event for RMG Club, Moore’s golf course management company founded in 2012.

“RMG Club and I are excited to participate in the growth of the game for the next generation and continue the legacy of competition for our courses and the AJGA,” Moore said.

A two-time Rolex Junior All-American, Moore recorded five top-10 finishes and three AJGA victories, including the 1999 AJGA Boise Junior Classic at Warm Springs and the 2001 HP Junior Championship at Trophy Lake. His biggest win came at the 2001 Thunderbird International Junior where he carded rounds of 67-68-68 for a tournament total of 202, the second-lowest in tournament history. Moore went on to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he won the Haskins Award in 2005.

The deadline to apply to the Ryan Moore Junior Championship is Tuesday, May 28 at 5 p.m. ET.
