Tour highlights: Johnson, Henderson win again

Dustin Johnson came from three back to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and move to No. 2 in the World Golf Rankings. He shot a final-round 4-under-par 66 to finish the tournament at 6-under-par 274. This is Johnson’s second win in as many starts and his third World Golf Championship title. Scott Piercy came in second while Kevin Chappell, Matt Kuchar and Jordan Spieth all finished T3.

As a member of the AJGA, Johnson finished T10 at the AJGA Greater Greensboro Chrysler Junior in 2001. Altogether, these top-finishers have competed in 64 AJGA tournaments.

Brooke Henderson became the third player to win back-to-back titles at the Cambia Portland Classic presented by JTBC, joining Annika Sorenstam and Kathy Whitworth. She finished at 14-under-par 274, four strokes ahead of runner-up Stacy Lewis and six strokes ahead of Austin Ernst and Mariajo Uribe who both finished T4.

Henderson won two tournaments and never finished out of the top-20 during her five years as an AJGA member. She won the Genesis Junior at White Beeches in 2011 and the Ravenwood Junior Championship in 2012.

Gary Woodland came in second place at the Barracuda Championship after winning the title in 2013. Woodland finished with a final score of 37 in modified Stableford scoring, six points behind the winner, while Colt Knost finished third with 35 points. Tim Herron came in fourth place with a score of 34 while Brendan Steele tied for third at 32.

Woodland, who just finished hosting an AJGA tournament , played in the 2001 AJGA Marsh Kansas City Junior.

Omar Uresti finished T2 at the PGA Professional Championship, just one shot behind the leader, after holding the lead for 38 holes. During his AJGA career from 1982-86, he played in 14 AJGA tournaments.

Erynne Lee and Megan McChrystal tied for second place on the Symetra Tour at the Tullymore Classic at 10-under-par 206 while Dottie Ardina, Yu Liu and Emma Talley tied for fourth at 9-under-par 207.

Lee played in 38 AJGA tournaments during her seven years as an AJGA player. In 2010, she won the Laredo Energy Junior at Traditions. She also won the 2008 AJGA Junior at Wenatchee while being named a first-team Rolex Junior All-American during the same year. McChrystal played in one AJGA tournament in 2005, the PING Junior at Mirasol, where she finished in sixth place.
