Brittany Lang was trailing by seven strokes following the second round of the U.S. Women’s Open. But by the end of the USGA championship she had settled into the No. 1 spot. Anna Nordqvist had a similar route to the top after beginning the final round six strokes off the lead. She finished with a final-round 67, forcing a three-hole playoff with Lang, who ended up winning the playoff and earning her first major title.
Lang played in 24 AJGA events from 1999-2001. During that time, she won five, including the 2002 Thunderbird International Junior. She was also a two-time Rolex Junior All-American. Nordqvist played in three AJGA events with a quarterfinal appearance at the 2005 Polo Golf Junior Classic.

Additionally, out of the 25 amateurs that participated in the U.S. Women’s Open, only three made the cut. One of those was Hannah O’Sullivan, who made the cut for the second-straight year. As an AJGA member, she won four tournaments, including the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2015. O’Sullivan was also named a first-team Rolex Junior All-American during the same year.

The AJGA had nine players finish in the top 10 at the LECOM Health Challenge, which included a four-man sudden death playoff between Rick Lamb, Dominic Bozzelli, Cheng Tsung Pan and Rhein Gibson. Lamb ended up winning the playoff and earning his first Web.com Tour title while moving up to No. 21 on the money list with $108,000.

Despite a number of professional golfers withdrawing from the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the AJGA still has 39 alumni competing at the newly built Gil Hanse-designed Olympic Golf Course in August. Some of these players include Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis.

Wes Short and Glen Day competed in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open and finished within the top 10. Short was runner up at 12-under-par 204, giving him his second runner-up and fourth top-five finish of the season, while Day was T6 at 9-under-par 207.
Short competed in the one AJGA tournament in 1982, while Day competed in eight tournaments, including the 1983 Rolex Tournament of Champions.

Danny Lee finished T3 at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open after shooting a 12-under-par 276 while Callum Shinkwin finished T8 at 10-under-par 278.
Lee finished T6 at the 2007 Haas Family Invitational and Shinkwin participated in The Junior PLAYERS Championship presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf.
