Weekend wrap-up (June 9)

PGA TOUR
Harris English captured his first PGA TOUR win at the 2013 FedEx St. Jude Classic after he birdied two of the last three holes to finish at 1-under-par 69 and 12-under-par 268 for the tournament. English, in his second year on the PGA TOUR, held off fellow AJGA alumni Phil Mickelson and Scott Stallings by two strokes. The top-five of the FedEx St. Jude Classic was all AJGA alumni: Phil Mickelson, Scott Stallings, Ryan Palmer and Patrick Reed. During his AJGA career from 2004 to 2006, English posted two top-10 finishes and a start in the 2005 Rolex Tournament of Champions.

In his collegiate career from 2008 to 2011, English was a four-time letterman for the University of Georgia where he played for former AJGA staff member Chris Haack. In 2008, he was named SEC Freshman Golfer of the Year. English also received All-SEC honors for four consecutive seasons. He had 17 top-10 finishes with four individual wins as a Bulldog. He co-captained the team with Russell Henley in 2011. That same year, English led Georgia to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Men’s Division I Golf Championship with a T10 individual finish.

LPGA TOUR
Current Rolex Rankings No. 1 Inbee Park won the 2013 Wegmans LPGA Championship after sinking an 18-foot birdie putt on the third-hole of a sudden-death playoff. This was Park’s seventh career victory since turning professional in April 2006 and her third major victory. Her last major win came earlier in 2013 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Park, 2002 Rolex Junior Player of the Year, won eight AJGA titles during her junior career from 2001 to 2005. Her most notable victories came at the 2002 Rolex Girls Junior Championship and 2003 Rolex Tournament of Champions. Park holds five Rolex Junior All-American honors.
