The American Junior Golf Association has presented the 2014 Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star with the Junior All-Star of the Year Award. The tournament previously won the award in 2012 and received the award again for the committee’s consistent ability to provide the best overall experience at an AJGA Junior All-Star Series event.

Each year, the AJGA presents awards to the tournaments with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am fundraising tournament, charitable giving and volunteer base. Awards are also given to the events with the highest media and social media participation. Finally, the AJGA recognizes the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and general manager, as well as the most improved event, best new event, best Junior All-Star tournament, best Invitational and overall tournament of the year. Tournament awards for the 2014 season will be presented on-site at the 2015 tournament.

“We are honored to be recognized by the AJGA as the Junior All-Star event of the year,” said Phil Erli, Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star tournament chairman. “Our tremendous success is only made possible through the incredible support we receive from the local community, volunteers, sponsors, Ringgold Telephone Company, WindStone Golf Club and the AJGA. Each year, we strive to host a tournament that is better than the previous year. We want the juniors to enjoy the tournament week, and we do whatever is necessary to ensure that takes place.”

The AJGA and Ringgold Telephone Company have hosted the event for 12 years and the majority of the committee members have been involved since its inception in 2003. The tournament committee takes pride in seeing the event grow and looks forward to hosting it each year. One of the keys to the event’s success is the committee’s attention to detail and dedication to make participants feel like members of the Ringgold Telephone Company family throughout the week.

“Each year, we mark our calendar for the tournament and we commit 100 percent of our time into coordinating the logistics, working with the AJGA staff, prepping the volunteers and ensuring that the juniors have everything they need to perform at their peak,” Erli said.

The committee recruits dozens of volunteers each year from Ringgold Telephone Company, WindStone Golf Club and the community that give support to participants not only in the form of shuttle rides and timing stations, but also through smiles and encouragement. The tournament thrives on the personal connection made between the volunteers, golfers, committee and staff.

In addition to its two Junior All-Star of the Year Awards, the tournament has also won the Hospitality Award (2003), Media Award (2004) and Volunteer Award (2010).

The Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star returns to the 2015 AJGA schedule June 1-4, at WindStone Golf Club.
