| Anderson and De Antonio earn medalist honors at TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifier
Nine boys, 2 girls advance to play in AJGA Florida Junior
Weston, Fla.- Michael
Anderson of Parkland, Fla., shot a 2-under-par 70 to claim medalist honors on
Monday, June 18, at the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifier for the AJGA Florida
Junior. In the Girls Division, Claudia De Antonio of Venezuela by way of
Weston, Fla., medaled after shooting a 2-over-par 74 at Westin Hills Country
Club.
Conducted by the
American Junior Golf Association, the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifier
for the AJGA Florida Junior was an 18-hole stroke play event held at Weston
Hills Country Club. The tournament field featured 76 boys and 18 girls, ages
12-18, from four states and four countries. The Boys Division played the par-72
course at 7,004 yards, while the Girls Division played the course at 6,072
yards.
TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifiers give juniors an opportunity to
"play their way in" to coinciding AJGA Open tournaments or earn a
Tournament Exemption or Performance Star for a future event. The
TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifier Series offers opportunities for AJGA juniors
at approximately 50 AJGA Open events
Anderson earned
Boys Division medalist honors by carding a 2-under-par 70. Also qualifying for
the AJGA Florida Junior were Jesus Delgado, Zachary Close, Colin Julian, Thomas
Schofield, Jared Barclay, A.J. D’Amico, Michael DeMorat, Ryoto Furuya and
Edgardo Arrazola Jr.
In the Girls
Division, Claudia De Antonio medaled after shooting a 2-over-par 74. Qualifying
for the tournament in the Girls Division were Ashley Malinchak and Maria
Alejandra Merchan.
The AJGA Florida
Junior will begin on June 19, 2012 with first-round tee times running from 7:30
a.m.- 9:30 a.m. off of the No.1 and No. 10 tees at Weston Hills Country Club.
