Definition: Stroke, Decision 18-2a/20
This past week, I was playing golf with my high school teammates and we came across an interesting situation on the third hole. My friend hit her tee shot in the right rough off the tee and came to rest in a difficult lie. While taking a few practice swings my friend accidentally hit her ball. The ball came to rest about 10 yards up in the fairway. We all thought that since she hit the ball, the stroke counts and she must play the ball from its new position. We later found out that this is not correct. What is the ruling?
