2006 AJGA Schedule Announced

The AJGA's 2006 schedule is nearly complete as more than 70 tournaments are already on the slate for the upcoming season. With a few final pieces still to be put in place, the 2006 schedule begins the first week of April and concludes with a third-consecutive trip to Sea Island Golf Club in November for the Polo Golf Junior Classic.

2006 AJGA Player Representatives Named

Arnond Vongvanij of Bradenton, Fla., and Kimberly Donovan of Hopkinton, Mass., were elected as Player Representatives to the AJGA Board of Directors during an AJGA General Membership Meeting held prior to the Polo Golf Junior Classic.

Player Representatives serve as the voice of the membership on the AJGA's board of directors. Vongvanij and Donovan will attend four quarterly board meetings that will be held throughout 2006. Jordan Cox of Redwood City, Calif., and Morgan Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla., were the representatives in 2005.

36 AJGA Alumni Qualify for PGA, LPGA Tours.


Twenty male and 16 female AJGA alumni earned fully exempt status on the PGA and LPGA Tour's, respectively, via the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament and LPGA Qualifying School.

The PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament wrapped up Dec. 5 with John B. Holmes leading the way at 24-under-par. Nicholas Thompson, D.A. Points, Nick Watney, Michael Allen, Hunter Mahan, Will MacKenzie, Robert Garrigus, John Engler, Jeff Overton, Bubba Dickerson, Ron Whittaker, Ryan Hietala, Brian Bateman, Alex Aragon, Mike Sposa, Danny Ellis, Michael Connell, B.J. Staten and Bill Haas led a contingent of 19 more AJGA alumni to earn fully-exempt status for the 2006 season.

LPGA Qualifying School ended Dec. 4 with 16 AJGA alumni earning fully exempt status on the LPGA Tour for the 2006 season. Libby Smith was the highest finisher, finishing tied for second. The past two Rolex Junior Players of the Year, Julieta Granada (2004) and Morgan Pressel (2005), finished tied for sixth.

Brooke Tull, Katie Fuchcer, Kate Golden, Diana Ramage, Louise Stahle, Meredith Duncan, Allison Hanna, Alena Sharp, Angie Rizzo, Jessica Reese-Qualye, Karin Sjodin, Christi Cano and Brittany Lang round out the rest of the fully exempt AJGA alumnae.
