A Look Like None Other
Polo Golf continues to set standard for style, generosity
By Matt Larson
Sponsorship Coordinator

Ever wonder why the AJGA staff is always dressed so well at tournaments throughout the year? As much as we would like to take full credit for our stylish brilliance, we must defer to the wonderful designers at Polo Golf for making us look so good. Polo Golf, the “Official Sportswear of the AJGA,” outfits the AJGA staff, Canon Cup and PING Junior Solheim Cup United States teams with products that represent the highest quality and design in the golf industry. In the words of Polo Golf, “Heritage meets performance in looks that go from the course to the clubhouse in style.”

Polo's generosity is on display everywhere at the Polo Golf Junior Classic, including tee signs on all 36 holes at Sea Island Golf Club.
“We are proud of our association with the AJGA,” said Denny DeMarino, Polo Golf National Sales Manager. “To be tied to the future of golf is an honor. The timeless swings that I witnessed at the Polo Golf Junior Classic at Sea Island goes perfectly with our timeless apparel.”

Polo was first introduced in the late 1960’s by a young designer named Ralph Lauren. From there, Polo branched off into many different apparel lines, including fashion for women, children, sportswear, and eventually golf. For more than 40 years, Polo’s reputation and distinctive image have been consistently developed across an expanding number of products, brands and international markets. From its modest beginnings as an upscale fashion line to the diverse company it is today, Polo has always been at the forefront of fashion, forward thinking and excellence. What began almost four decades ago with a collection of ties has grown into an entire world that has redefined style.

Polo Golf is a proud sponsor of several AJGA alumni who are now stars on the PGA TOUR, including Davis Love III and Jonathan Byrd.

“The AJGA is very fortunate to have such a wonderful supporter like Polo Golf,” said Jason Etzen, AJGA Executive Vice President of Development. “They are a first-class company.”

Polo Golf, completing its 11th year of sponsorship with the AJGA, returned as sponsor of the 2005 Polo Golf Junior Classic, held at the prestigious Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga. The Polo Golf Junior Classic, held annually over the Thanksgiving Weekend, began in 1978 as the American Junior Classic. This 27-year tradition began before the AJGA had even celebrated its first birthday. Like Polo Golf is an American fashion institution for its rich history, this annual event is likewise in the world of junior golf.

Past champions of the Polo Golf Junior Classic include Rolex Junior All-Americans and Players of the Year, PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour champions, and numerous collegiate champions. On the girls side, Heather Farr, Vicki Goetze-Ackerman, Grace Park, Beth Bauer, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel are just a few of the great champions of this illustrious event. Stewart Cink, Tiger Woods, Trevor Immelman, Erik Compton, Hunter Mahan and Brian Harman highlight some very notable champions at one of the AJGA’s premier events. This year’s champions are sure to rank up with past winners as Jamie Lovemark and Angela Park captured their respective crowns.

Next time you’re at an AJGA event, make sure to take note of the little pony located somewhere on the AJGA staff shirts. Again, we can’t take credit for looking so cool out on the golf course. Thank Polo.
