New AJGA Tournament Sponsors

The AJGA had a busy start to the new year in securing new sponsors for events throughout the season.

Srixon and I.R.I. Golf Group signed on to co-sponsor the Srixon/I.R.I. Golf Group Mixed Team Championship hosted by Jim Furyk. The event will be held at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., May 4-6.

The PGA TOUR’s John Deere Classic will sponsor the John Deere Classic Junior All-Star at Glynns Creek Golf Club in Long Grove, Iowa, July 16-19. This event is open to juniors ages 12-15.

Randy Wise Automotive Team will sponsor the Randy Wise Junior Open. This event will be staged at the Flint Elks Lodge 222 Golf Club in Grand Blanc, Mich., July 10-13.

EFW’s Defense for America Classic is being sponsored by EFW. This event will be held at Southern Oaks Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas, June 25-28.

ReBath signed on to become the title sponsor of the ReBath Heather Farr Classic held over Easter Weekend at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. The dates for the event are April 5-8.

Fujikawa wins Hawaii Pearl Open


Tadd Fujikawa again makes national headlines.

A month after making national headlines for his time at the PGA TOUR’s Sony Open in Hawaii, Tadd Fujikawa, of Honolulu was victorious at the Hawaii Pearl Open held at Pearl Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii. The event is held for the best players from Hawaii and Japan. Fujikawa finished the tournament with a total of 11-under-par 205 beating professionals from both countries.

Juniors Make Their Way Into LPGA Events

The LPGA season opened this week with the SBS Open at Turtle Bay in Oahu, Hawaii. Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., was a Monday Qualifier into the event after shooting a 1-under-par 71. Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii was present at the event after being granted a sponsor exemption.


Kimberly Kim is slated for two LPGA events this season.

Kim will be busy later this season as well as she joins Esther Choe, also of Scottsdale, as the two sponsor exemptions for the Kraft Nabisco Championship held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. This is the first LPGA major championship of the season.

MacKinzie Kline of Encinitas, Calif., received a sponsor exemption into the LPGA’s Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika Sorenstam May 31-June 3. Kline, who has a rare heart condition, has been granted use of a cart during competition. She will be the first player in an LPGA Tour event to ride in a cart.
