USGA·AJGA Youth Leadership Club Seeking Nominations
The USGA·AJGA Youth Leadership Club is currently accepting applications for the President’s Leadership Award. Each year, a President’s Youth Leadership Award is awarded to one girl and one boy who have demonstrated leadership skills, character and community service through their involvement with the USGA • AJGA Youth Leadership club. In 2006, Katrina Delen-Briones of San Francisco and Adam Michel of Ordina, Calif., were honored for their exemplary community volunteerism.
In order to be considered for the award, the AJGA must receive the following items no later than Friday April 6, 2007:
• Completed application form (click here to download)
• All volunteer hours logged in the AJGA Players Center
• One letter of recommendation from an organization with which you volunteered. Please note that your volunteer hours can be outside of golf.
• An essay describing your volunteer experience in 500 words of less. Please address how this particular experience impacted you and the importance of volunteerism for the future of the game of golf.
The winners of this year’s President’s Youth Leadership Award will be presented with four tickets to a future U.S. Open of their choice, access to the USGA hospitality tent and an automatic entry into the Rolex Tournament of Champions. The winners will be honored at the Rolex Dinner of Champions at The Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio, July 5, 2007.
Juniors Continue to Show Skills in LPGA Events
Alejandra Llaneza of Mexico City, Mexico, competed in the LPGA Tour’s MasterCard Classic Honoring Alejo Peralta at Bosque Real Country Club in Mexico City, Mexico, March 9-11. While she missed the cut, Llaneza had the opportunity to play with the professionals in her hometown.
March 22-25, Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., will tee it up at the LPGA Tour’s Safeway International Presented by Coca-Cola. This will be Karle’s second LPGA event of the season. She previously was a Monday Qualifier at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay.
