Something is missing from most AJGA
tournaments in 2006. Check your Schedule of Events and you
won’t see the Players
Meeting or Parents Meeting (except at the Medicus Preseason/Postseason
Junior Series and the Nike Golf Junior All-Star Series).
 |
| Welcome
receptions will replace Players Meetings at all AJGA
events, with the exception of Nike Golf Junior All-Star
Series and Medicus Preseason/Postseason events. |
In their place, you will find a Welcome Reception.
So what’s the difference? First and foremost, the
Welcome Reception is not mandatory — although we’re
sure you won’t want to miss it. It will be a gathering
of tournament participants, parents, committee, sponsors
and AJGA staff, with plenty of food.
With the best interests of the players and parents in mind,
the AJGA made this change to provide a more enjoyable practice
round day for everyone. The atmosphere at a Welcome Reception
is markedly different than the Meeting. There are no lectures
and guests may come and go as they please.
The AJGA staff will be on hand to meet participants and
answer questions. Guests will also have the opportunity to
meet fellow players, parents and the sponsors and committees
who have made the event possible. And food will be plenty,
so come hungry.
Most Welcome Receptions will take place at the host hotel,
although some will be at the golf course. At the hotel, the
environment will be casual and players will be able to get
back to their rooms early for a good night’s sleep
before the first round.
For participants who stay at home during an event, but have
long distances to travel, this should be especially welcome
news, as the choice to attend is yours.
Players Registration has moved to mid-day,
so players may register after their morning round, or before
their afternoon round, whatever the case may be. |
