Karle and Galletti Etch Name in AJGA Record Books

Taylore Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., returned to familiar territory in the AJGA record books after her performance at the AJGA Craig Ranch Junior. Karle's 14-shot victory tied her for the 10th largest margin of victory in AJGA history.

Karle had already been in the record books with a 14-shot win at the Nike Golf Junior at Las Cruces in 2004. Seven players have recorded 16-stroke wins, while two players have notched 15-stroke victories.

Meanwhile, Roberto Galletti, Jr., of Clayton, Calif., fired a final-round 8-under-par 63 at the Heather Farr Classic in Mesa, Ariz., to tie for the third best score in AJGA Boys Division history.

AJGA Juniors Compete in LPGA Tour Events

A number of AJGA players have recently taken their games to the next level and have enjoyed success on the professional circuit.

Esther Choe of Scottsdale, Ariz., winner of the 2005 Rolex Tournament of Champions, finished tied for 32nd at the Safeway International presented by Coca-Cola. The tournament, held at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in Superstition Mountain, Ariz., will play host to the AJGA’s PING Phoenix Junior Aug. 15-18.

Sydnee Michaels of Temecula, Calif., participated in and made the cut at the first major of the LPGA season, the Kraft Nabisco Championship. The event was held at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., which will serve as home to the 25th annual Mission Hills Desert Junior June 26-29.

Meanwhile, Candace Schepperle of Hoover, Ala., was one of two Monday qualifiers for the Florida’s Natural Charity Championship at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga. Schepperle, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Auburn University, fired a second-round 68 to make the cut.

Rolex Junior Player of the Year Peter Uihlein of Bradenton, Fla., has received an exemption to play in the PGA TOUR’s Buick Championship, held at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.

Uihlein is off to a fast start in 2006, winning the inaugural AJGA Craig Ranch Junior in McKinney, Texas.
