Rule 13: Ball Played as It Lies; Decision 13-4/30

I was playing in a junior golf tournament this spring and I came across an interesting situation. On the par-5 ninth hole, my second shot came to rest on the wood bridge that players use to cross the creek between the fairway and the green. I decided to take relief under Rule 26-1c and took two club lengths from the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the lateral water hazard. I played the ball from its new position and played out the hole. Did I have any other options other than playing under Rule 26-1c and incurring a one-stroke penalty?
