C.A. Roberts, senior vice president of business development and principal at OB Sports, was appointed to the American Junior Golf Association Board of Directors. Roberts, formerly a tournament director and director of development at the AJGA, was appointed to the Board in February.

Longbow Golf Club, home of the Heather Farr Classic in Mesa, Ariz., is one of O.B. Sports' AJGA facilities.

A 1988 graduate of Baylor University with a degree in finance, Roberts coordinates all marketing and promotional functions at O.B. Sports and seeks out new opportunities for the company to manage, develop and acquire new golf course projects.

“C.A. (Roberts) is very knowledgeable in golf,” said AJGA Executive Director Stephen Hamblin. “He was key to the growth of our organization during his time as a staff member, and since joining OB Sports, has been vital in helping the AJGA secure fantastic venues for many of our events.”

During his tenure at the AJGA (1990-1996), Roberts first served as a tournament director and went on to become the director of development, where he managed and recruited more than 50 prominent corporate partners, coordinated all of the Association’s tournament scheduling and implemented a variety of fund-raising initiatives. Since joining OB Sports, he has helped that organization achieve similar growth starting with a management portfolio of five courses in 1996 that today includes 29 prestigious properties throughout the United States and Mexico.

“(Roberts) will make a great AJGA Board member, as he knows and understands our mission and purpose and will be a significant contributor in moving the organization forward,” Hamblin said.

Roberts’ company, OB Sports, has always been a supporter of the AJGA hosting, events at many of their courses dating back to 1980. The Founder & CEO of OB Sports, Orrin Vincent, was an original board member of the AJGA and received the organization’s Digger Smith Award in 2004.

The AJGA Board of Directors is a combination of business and community leaders that includes two AJGA junior members, as well as national chairmen from the PGA and LPGA Tours.
