Throughout the last 26 years, the American Junior Golf Association
has been fulfilling its mission: to help juniors earn college
golf scholarships.

Now the AJGA would like to know which of many roads its
thousands of players have taken in their lives, and offer
them support and engagement through the AJGA Alumni Program.
Similar to other outreach initiatives, the Alumni Program
offers many benefits to members including the opportunity
to reconnect with old friends and make new ones at regional
outings, network with other golf professionals, receive national
industry-specific job postings, meet current players at Junior-Ams
and become involved in future events.
Chief Advancement Officer Bob Miller said the idea to establish
the Alumni Program came as a result of the AJGA’s need
to re-establish a relationship with former players.
“Since 1978 we’ve had talented, upstanding juniors
go through the AJGA,” Miller said. “We are most
excited to help some of our alumni stay involved in golf.”
Prominent alumni such as Justin Leonard,
Bob Estes, Lucas Glover, Sherri Steinhauer, Tiger Woods and
Phil Mickelson are involved in current programming, but Miller
said the AJGA would like to engage in a better relationship
with all of its alumni.
“We are very aware of the TOUR players because they
are very public,” Miller said. “What about the
others? We want to know where our alumni are and what all
our alumni are up to, and we want them to get involved.”
The AJGA Alumni Program offers engagement in current projects
and events through the Regional Leadership program. There
are opportunities for alumni to scout future tournament locations,
offer feedback, work with local Tournament Directors or help
with the promotion, sponsorship and fundraising of events.
Membership also includes a chance for alumni to stay involved
in the golf industry as a career. There are many opportunities
available in the AJGA itself and through its connections
with sponsors and friends. These postings are available on
the Golf Jobs Center. Former AJGA staff and players have
been successful in the golf industry as PGA Tournament Directors,
assistant and head coaches, and USGA and other corporate
staff members.
The Alumni Directory will help to reconnect many valuable
friendships forged on the AJGA circuit. Message boards and
regional outings will give members the opportunity to stay
in touch or meet new golfing friends and business contacts.
Members will be given an AJGA towel, pin
and metal bag tag plus a one-year subscription to Golfweek magazine
(domestic value $59.40). The start-up cost is $50 ($25 for
current college students) and your membership is valid for
one calendar year from the date you join.
