Uihlein Competes on the PGA TOUR
Rolex Junior Player of the Year Peter Uihlein competed at
the PGA TOUR’s Buick Championship June 29-30 at the
TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. Uihlein, who has
five career AJGA victories and second-place finishes at two
AJGA Invitationals in 2006, fired rounds of 72-74 to finish
the event at 6-over-par.
The Buick Championship annually grants an exemption to the
AJGA’s Rolex Junior Player of the Year.
Host of Girls Compete in U.S. Women’s Open
Just a year after Morgan Pressel finished tied for second
at the U.S. Women’s Open while still an AJGA member,
twelve current AJGA members competed in the 61st U.S. Women’s
Open at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I., June 29-July
2. One of them, 15-year-old Kimberly Kim of Pahoa, Hawaii,
made the cut with scores of 77-71-78-83—309 to finish
66th.

Fujikawa Becomes Youngest Player to Participate in U.S. Open
Tadd Fujikawa, 15, of Honolulu, Hawaii, became the youngest
player to ever compete in the U.S. Open, carding
rounds of 81-77—158 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck,
N.Y., June 15-16.
Fujikawa finished runner-up at the 2005 Polo Golf Junior
Classic and will compete on the Canon Cup West Team.
