The AJGA will boost its late-season schedule this fall with the debut of a new invitational event, the Audubon Golf Trail Top 100 presented by: Hilton New Orleans Riverside. The 54-hole stroke play tournament will feature the nation’s top junior golfers and will be hosted at the Tournament Players Club of Louisiana in New Orleans.

Cajun country is no stranger to the AJGA, as the association has hosted events in the New Orleans area dating back to 1977. However, 2005 marks the first year in which the city will play host to an AJGA Invitational.

“The Audubon Golf Trail Top 100 presented by: Hilton New Orleans Riverside will be the last championship prior to the Rolex Junior Players of the Year and All-American teams being determined,” said Assistant Executive Director Peter Ripa. "Couple that with the commitment of the Fore!Kids Foundation, the Audubon Golf Trail, Hilton New Orleans Riverside, the Louisiana Office of Culture, Recreation and Tourism and the TPC of Louisiana and players will experience a TOUR-like atmosphere.”

The TPC of Louisiana, which will be hosting its second AJGA event, is also the home of the PGA TOUR’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and promises to be a challenging venue for the country’s top juniors.

“We’re looking forward to hosting an invitational now and the community is behind us, especially the Audobon Golf Trail,” said local Tournament Chairman Bill Haws, who has been involved with the AJGA since 1983 and has served as the tournament chairman for the New Orleans event since 1989.

“The Audubon Golf Trail is chaired by Paul Buckley, who is also the VP of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside,” Haws continued. “Between them and the

The field for the inaugural Audubon Golf Trail Top 100 presented by: New Orleans Riverside will be determined by the AJGA’s Invitational Rankings, which awards players for top finishes in AJGA events, as well as other top-tier national junior golf tournaments.

Upon arriving in New Orleans, players will be greeted by a golf course designed by legendary golf course architect Pete Dye that can be stretched to more than 7,500 yards from the back tees. The TPC of Louisiana boasts 103 bunkers as well as tree-lined fairways that are strategically positioned to catch any wayward shots.

New Orleans native and 2001 PGA Champion David Toms has been named the honorary chairman of the Audubon Golf Trail Top 100 presented by: Hilton New Orleans Riverside. For more information on the event, be sure to check out the tournament Web site by clicking here.
