TITLEIST has served as the National Sponsor of the AJGA since 1989. As such, Titleist has been the catalyst and driving force behind the American Junior Golf Association’s success. In 2006, Titleist announced a 10-year extension of its National Sponsorship.
As a result of Titleist’s commitment to junior golf, the AJGA has been able to improve its services each year to meet the needs of a growing membership. In fact, since 1989, the AJGA has experienced the following growth and achievements:
- The AJGA has grown from 2,677 members in 1991 to more than 5,000 members 17 years later, representing 49 states and more than 30 foreign countries.
- The AJGA has also seen growth in its number of tournaments as it moved from 27 in 1991 to a record 86 in 2009, with five events being conducted simultaneously during most summer weeks in more than 20 states.
- The construction of the AJGA’s new National Headquarters at Chateau Élan Resort provided the foundation for the AJGA’s future growth. Completed in the summer of 2000, the AJGA took up residence September 18 of that year. With 14,000 square feet, the AJGA more than quadrupled the office space of the former headquarters. The new office enabled the entire AJGA staff to work under the same roof for the first time in five years. The building was entirely funded by corporate sponsors such as Titleist, as well as numerous private donors. Currently, 57 full-time employees fill the National Headquarters.
- With the steady growth in staff and tournaments, the AJGA’s budget has increased dramatically from $1.1 million in 1989 to a projected $9.1 million in 2011.
