HURRICANE HINDERS FIRST-ROUND PLAY
Claudette causes four hour and 47 minute delay
KINGWOOD, Texas - Hurricane Claudette rolled through
Kingwood, Texas on Tuesday and prevented play from being completed
in the first round of the Nike Golf Junior All-Star Classic
at Kingwood.
Play was suspended at 10:20 a.m. because of lightning. Even
though play was resumed at 3:07 p.m., a delay of four hours
and 47 minutes, six groups were yet to finish the first round
when play was suspended at 8:15 p.m. because of darkness.
The remaining six groups will conclude their first round at
9 a.m. Wednesday.
The 54-hole Nike Golf Junior All-Star Classic at Kingwood,
conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, is being
held at Kingwood Country Club's Island Course. The 99-player
field consists of boys and girls, ages 13-15, from 16 states
and Japan.
Second-round tee times will resume at the scheduled times
beginning at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:18 p.m. For more
