HOUSING: The Woodlands Waterway Marriott (1601 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380) will serve as the host hotel and has given the AJGA a special rate of $159 per night, per room. Average rates at this time are $289 per night, per room. Reservations can be made by calling (281) 367-9797, and be sure to identify yourself as an AJGA participant. You must call by January 29 to receive the special AJGA rate. Due to limited availability, the AJGA room block at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott begins Thursday, February 11, 2010.
PRIVATE HOUSING: As another housing option, players and their parents may request private housing for the event. Typical requests may be for those juniors traveling without parents to the event. Please contact Tournament Director Jeremy Freyman at (678) 425-1721 if you need or are seeking more information on private housing. This option is first come, first serve, and is not guaranteed, so please contact the Tournament Director as soon as possible.
AIRPORT: Players should make reservations into George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), which is approximately 35 minutes from The Club at Carlton Woods and 30 minutes from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION: National Car Rental, the Official Car Rental of the PGA TOUR and now the American Junior Golf Association, provides AJGA members and their families with discounted fixed rates on all car categories. Enroll free in the Emerald Club to earn free days or make a reservation directly from the AJGA Web site. TRAVEL/ACCOMODATIONS STIPEND: The tournament will reimburse up to $300 per player for costs associated with travel (airfare/gas/mileage), rental car and lodging. An additional $500 will be reimbursed for international players who submit international flight receipts. To receive the reimbursement, fill out the form located on the tournament Web page at http://www.ajga.org/MicroSites/index3.asp?TN=201002. You may also bring receipts to the tournament or submit them to the AJGA by Monday, March 29, 2010.
PRACTICE ROUND: The tournament practice round will be a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start Friday, February 12, at The Club at Carlton Woods – Fazio Championship Course. No prior arrangements are necessary. Players may sign up for starting hole assignments with an AJGA staff member on the practice putting green from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, February 12. Additional practice rounds at The Club at Carlton Woods are available Thursday, February 11 only. Juniors interested in playing Thursday will be placed into groups with members of Carlton Woods to play an additional practice round. There will be no cost associated with this additional practice round, but you must play as the guest of a Carlton Woods member. If you are interested in playing an additional practice round Thursday, February 11, please contact Tournament Director Jeremy Freyman at (678) 425-1721 to be placed in a group. Spaces will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
PLAYERS REGISTRATION: Players Registration will be held Friday, February 12, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at The Club at Carlton Woods. Players unable to register at this time MUST notify Tournament Director Jeremy Freyman prior to February 11 at (678) 425-1721. Players Registration is MANDATORY. Players who fail to register without prior approval from the Tournament Director may forfeit their tournament gifts. Approval to miss Players Registration will be granted only in extreme circumstances. An individual absent from these events because they are not staying at the host hotel, are staying in private housing for the week or have a long commute does not constitute acceptable circumstances.
PARENTS RECEPTION: All parents are invited to attend a Parents Reception hosted by the AJGA staff Friday, February 12, at 5 p.m. at The Club at Carlton Woods. The Parents Reception will be a time to collect informative materials, meet with the AJGA staff and ask questions regarding the tournament, the AJGA’s policies and procedures and other AJGA practices. Food and drink will be provided by the AJGA, courtesy of HP.
WELCOME RECEPTION: All participants and their families are invited to attend a Welcome Reception hosted by HP and The Club at Carlton Woods Friday, February 12, from 6 – 8 p.m. Food and drink will be provided and attendees will have the opportunity to participate in several fun activities.
TOURNAMENT TEE TIMES: Tee times are as follows: Saturday, February 13 – Monday, February 15 from 8 – 9:48 a.m. off Nos. 1 and 10 tees of the Fazio Championship Course. A tie for the championship will be decided by a sudden-death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. As inclement weather may delay play, please make your departing flight as late as possible and keep in mind that George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is 35 minutes from The Club at Carlton Woods.
FOOD FUNCTIONS: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all tournament participants and their families Saturday, February 13 – Monday, February 15 at The Club at Carlton Woods. In addition, lunch will be provided Friday, February 12.
TOURNAMENT COOKOUTS/SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Tournament cookouts will be held Saturday, February 13 – Sunday, February 14 from 5 – 8 p.m. All juniors and their families are guests of the AJGA. Please see the general information form during the tournament for more information regarding the cookouts.
CODE OF CONDUCT: All AJGA participants are expected to abide by the AJGA Code of Conduct. Violations of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with based on the severity of the misconduct.
- The new USGA condition of competition requiring a player’s clubs conform to the groove and punch mark specifications as detailed in the 2010-2011 Rules of Golf is NOT in effect for AJGA competitions.
- Golf carts and spectator carts are not allowed without a Government issued permanent handicap placard.
- Caddies are not permitted in AJGA tournament play.
- Proper attire is required at all times and failure to comply may result in disqualification (see Dress Code Section of Code of Conduct).
- Push carts (non-motorized) are approved for use by all players as permitted by the host facility. Players are responsible for providing their own push carts.
- No headphones may be worn in AJGA competition.
ELIGIBILITY: High school players are advised to consult your athletic director regarding whether participation in this event will affect your high school eligibility status.
