PUTERBAUGH LEADS PACK OF FINAL AJGA ARIZONA JUNIOR CLASSIC QUALIFIERS
Nine more players earn spots in Easter Weekend Tournament Field

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The final nine names were added Sunday to the Boys Division for next weekend's fourth annual AJGA Arizona Junior Classic at Thunderbirds Golf Club. Eight boys and five girls earned places in the field in Saturday's qualifier.

Jason Puterbaugh of Carlsbad, Calif., finished with a 71 Sunday, garnering him not only a qualifying spot, but also medalist honors.

Puterbaugh's strategy was fairly simple - he focused strictly on playing one shot at a time.

"I made some important putts today which boasted my confidence," Puterbaugh said.
Puterbaugh, who will be attending the University of Southern California in the fall, did more than just make impressive putts; he carded six birdies.

"I was pleased with my up and downs and towards the end I just wanted to finish the race," the 18-year-old said.

California natives joining Puterbaugh as qualifiers Sunday include his brother, Jamie, Trevor Schultz of San Dimas; Aaron Goldberg of Encinitas; Taylor Neal of Thousand Oaks; Jason Wilk of Agoura Hills; and Paul Brown of South Pasadena. Two Arizona natives, Jake Yount of Paradise Valley and Drew Kittleson of Scottsdale, also qualified Sunday.

The first round of the AJGA Arizona Junior Classic will begin Saturday, March 30 with a 7:30 a.m. start at Thunderbirds Golf Club.
