ELSEN REMAINS LEADER OF THE PACK AFTER SECOND ROUND
Arseneault joins Lua atop leaderboard in Girls Division

Wales, Wis. β€” Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, Wis., carded an even-par 71 to maintain the lead in the Boys Division after the second round at the Future Legends on Wednesday, giving him a two-day total of 2-under-par 140. In the Girls Division, Jennie Arseneault of Grinnell, Iowa, edged her way to the top with a 3-under-par 68 to tie first-round leader Tiffany Lua of Rowland Heights, Calif., who shot a 2-over-par 73. Both players have a two-day total of 143.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Future Legends is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at The Legend at Brandybrook. The tournament features 64 boys and 21 girls, ages 12-18, from 14 states, including 31 from Wisconsin.

Elsen's even-par round included 15 pars and an eagle on the par 5 hole No. 15. Elsen believes his putting was the most difficult part of his game today.

β€œI hit the driver well again today, but I had a lot of putts,” Elsen said. β€œI had good putts, but I just couldn't read the right lines. I feel like I am hitting the ball really well, though, and I am looking forward to tomorrow's final round.”

Joe Kinney of Antioch, Ill., shot a 1-over-par 72 for a two-day total of 144 and second place on the leaderboard. Tied for third are DJ Schultz of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Austin Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam, Wis., Andy Hansen of Mequon, Wis., Nick Martin of Winnetka, Ill., and Kyle Parsons of Wethersfield, Conn., with two-day totals of 147.

Lua's score of 73 included one birdie, 14 pars and three bogeys. Lua found today's wind to be a major factor on the course.

β€œI had a tough time playing in the wind and controlling my ball distance,” Lua said. β€œI still have a lot of work to do tomorrow, but I am just going to try my best and stay patient.”

Arseneault's 3-under-par 68 included four birdies, 13 pars and one bogey. Arseneault credits her low score to her putting.

β€œI putted a lot better today than I have been lately,” Arseneault said. β€œTomorrow I am just going to try to hit lots of greens and play my game again.”

Emily Johnson of Warsaw, Ind., stands alone in second place with a two-day score of 74-75β€”149. Sara Hurwitch of Potomac Falls, Va., is in third place with a 76-77β€”153.
