LAMBRIGHT, BAILEY CAPTURE BOYS MEDALIST HONORS AT AJGA SRIXON QUALIFIER
Davis shoots 3-over-par to earn medalist honors in the Girls Division

CYPRESS, Texas—Jeremy Lambright of Palestine, Texas, and Kyle Bailey of Austin, Texas, fired 1-over-par 73s to earn medalist honors in the Boys Division at the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship Srixon Qualifier on Sunday. Sarah Beth Davis of Victoria, Texas, also earned medalist honors by besting the girls' field by one shot with a 3-over-par 75.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship Srixon Qualifier was held on the South Course at Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress, Texas. The tournament field consisted of 84 boys and 16 girls from six states, each vying for a chance to play in the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship that takes place from June 5-8 at Redstone Golf Club — The Jacobsen Hardy Course in Humble, Texas.

Lambright had two birdies and two bogeys on the front side en route to an even-par 36, and finished the round with a 1-over-par 73. Lambright said that his ball-striking contributed to his solid play.

“I hit the ball pretty well today,” Lambright said. “The key to my round was keeping the ball in the fairway because there were some pretty tight holes on the course.”

After a 2-over-par 38 on the front side, Bailey rallied on the back nine with a 1-under-par 35, finishing with a 73. Bailey and Lambright both utilized the AJGA Option Policy and will not play in the tournament at Redstone Golf Club, rather, they earned an AJGA Tournament Exemption.

Other qualifiers in the Boys Division included Dillon Kirk of San Antonio, who fired a 2-over-par 74. Jacob Lejeune of Sulphur, La., Justin Lavine of Sugarland, Texas, Brandon Washington of Duncanville, Texas, Joe Lagowski of Katy, Texas, and John Colwell of The Woodlands, Texas, each shot 3-over-par 75. Christopher Walker, also of The Woodlands, finished with a 4-over-par 76. Taylor Dio of Friendswood, Texas, and John Darden of Frisco, Texas, captured the final qualifier spots after a sudden-death playoff.

Shooting a 75, Carson Gibson of San Antonio, chose a Performance Based Entry Tournament Exemption by opting out of the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship.

In the Girls Division, Davis shot an even-par 36 on the back nine, finishing with a 3-over-par 75. Davis was thrilled to play in a tournament that honors an old friend, Dick Harmon. An AJGA Achieving Competitive Excellence Grant will be named in his honor during the Fidelity Investments Junior Championship. This grant will annually give an AJGA member financial assistance to play in AJGA events.

“I'm very excited because I was instructed by Dick Harmon and he wanted me to play in the tournament; I'm really excited that I qualified for the event,” Davis said.

Other qualifiers in the Girls Division included Alexandra Gibson of Henderson, Nev., and Kalynd Carson, of The Woodlands, who both carded 4-over-par 76.

Shannon Jungman of Pflugerville, Texas, chose the AJGA Option Policy after recording a 4-over-par 76.
