COLVIN CLIMBS TO TOP OF LEADERBOARD AT TAYLOR WOODROW JUNIOR AT MAGNOLIA LANDING
Shin continues busy week taking top spot in Girls Division after second round

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Andrew Colvin of Longwood, Fla., fired a 7-under-par 65, for a two-day total of 8-under-par 136, to secure a second-round lead in the Boys Division Wednesday at the Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing. In the Girls Division, Michelle Shin of Cape Coral, Fla., carded a 1-under-par 71 to take the lead in the Girls Division at even-par 144 after two days.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing is a 54-hole stroke play event being held at The Golf Club at Magnolia Landing. The 84-player field features players from 15 states, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland and Poland. The Girls Division is playing the The Golf Club at Magnolia Landing at 6,043 yards, while the Boys Division is playing it at 6,843 yards.

Colvin, who took second place at last week's Birks & Mayors Junior Championship at Mirasol, shot under par on both sides of the course to improve his score by six strokes from Tuesday's 1-under-par 71.

“Everything was working well for me out there today,” Colvin said. “Nothing really stuck out. I was just hitting well and playing solidly.”

Colvin said that being the leader going into the final round won't change the way he goes about his game on the course.

“I just need to keep hitting well and playing the way I play,” he said. “Tomorrow I just need to stay patient and not get ahead of myself.”

Tied for second place in the Boys Division with two-day totals of 5-under-par 139 are Joe David of Madison, Tenn., and Phillip Choi of Orlando, Fla. In a four-way tie for fourth are Devin Patel of Celebration, Fla., Tyler McCumber of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Devin Komline of Dorset, Vt., and Zhong Yang Fu of Bradenton, Fla., all carding 4-under-par 140s.

In the Girls Division, Shin managed to overcome a busy week of playing in the qualifier for the U.S. Women's Open, final exams at school and the Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing. She had two birdies on the front nine and two bogeys on the back on her way to the top of the leaderboard.

“I played a little better today, my putting was much better,” Shin said. “It has been a crazy week of golf and school. I hope I can just keep my momentum going.”

Behind Shin in second place is Christina Miller of Bradenton, Fla., who shot a 3-over-par 75 for a tournament total of 2-over-par 146. In a four-way tie for third place are Melissa Edmonson of Coral Gables, Fla., Maria Castellanos of Stuart, Fla., Casey Ann Kennedy of Venice, Fla., and Doris Chen of Bradenton, Fla., all with two-day totals of 4-over-par 148.
