WEAVER MEDALS IN TOMATOBANK NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CLASSIC SRIXON QUALIFIER AT 6-UNDER-PAR 66
Ontiveros shoots par to medal at Lone Tree Golf Course & Event Center
ANTIOCH, Calif. Michael Weaver of Fresno, Calif., carded a 6-under-par 66 to medal in the TomatoBank Northern California Classic Srixon Qualifier. In the Girls Divison, Jordan Ontiveros of Alamo, Calif., also received a medal for turning in an even-par 72 after Sunday's round at Lone Tree Golf Course & Event Center.
The TomatoBank Northern California Classic Srixon Qualifier, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, featured 80 boys and 20 girls, ages 12-18, with 96 players from California. The event was staged on the par-72 Lone Tree Golf Course & Event Center with boys tees set at 6,442 yards and girls tees at 5,975 yards.

Weaver, who starts school Monday and cannot play in this week's tournament, said his goal Sunday was to finish top-10 so he could receive his Tournament Exemption. With five birdies, an eagle on No. 12 and a low score of 66, his goal was exceeded and he received medalist honors.
I hit the ball really well and my putting was really good today, Weaver said. It was just an all-around good day for me.
Also qualifying to play in the TomatoBank Northern California Classic were Michael Shwe of Cupertino, Calif., Mason Field of Santa Barbara, Calif., Jason Peters of Atascadero, Calif., Mathew Miller of Pleasanton, Calif., David Caplinger of Indio, Calif., Paul McNamara III of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Andrew Larkin of Los Angeles, Calif., Brian O'Regan of Walnut Creek, Calif., Justin Gabbert of Pleasanton, Calif., and Alvin Cheung of La Quinta, Calif.
Daniel Covrig of Modesto, Calif., Niall Platt of Santa Barbara, Calif., Ryan Niu of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Cole Pickavance of Danville, Calif., also qualified for the TomatoBank Northern California Classic, but chose to accept one Tournament Exemption to be used towards another event in lieu of playing this week.
In the Girls Division, Ontiveros said she trusted herself during Sunday's round and the outcome was consistent ball striking and putting despite the windy conditions.
I just tried to keep the ball in the middle of the fairways and greens, and was able to play well from there, Ontiveros said.
Qualifying in the Girls Division were Alexandra Stewart of Carson City, Nev., Esther Lee of Los Alamitos, Calif., Monica Villarreal of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Lauren Eom of San Jose, Calif.
Ontiveros, Daniela Okino of Elk Grove, Calif., and Lauren Salazar of Santa Clara, Calif., also qualified for the TomatoBank Northern California Classic, but chose to accept one Tournament Exemption to be used towards another event in lieu of playing in this week's tournament.
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth an development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
The largest Association of its kind, the AJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of more than 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and more than 25 foreign countries.
AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
The TomatoBank Northern California Classic will begin Tuesday with tee times from 7:30-9:27 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees at Ruby Hill Golf Club.
