The Center for Racial Justice in Education’s mission is to train and empower educators to dismantle patterns of racism and injustice in our schools and communities. At the Center for Racial Justice in Education, they envision a world where all young people learn and thrive in racially equitable, liberating, and empowering educational spaces.
An idea that has become prevalent in recent weeks is that silence sides with the oppressors. If you have been paying attention to these recent events like I have you would feel a sickening feeling in your stomach. From the deaths of George Floyd to Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks, all these people ended up on the wrong side of the broken system because of something as slight as the color of their skin. Injustices have lasted long enough, and I believe it is everyone's duty to fight for the rights of all people, whether they differ in race, ethnicity, sex etc or not. These past few weeks have not revealed anything new but have rather ripped off the band-aid that was trying to cover the problems transpiring in our nation. I feel that it would be unfair to sit in silence as a portion of our Country has to sit in fear of stepping out of their house with every action. I know that as white person in American I don't have to worry about being treated unfairly due to my skin tone after being pulled over and I also don't have to fear seeing a police officer in public. These are issues I may never experience but I sure cannot sit here and allow these things to happen to some of my good friends as well as to strangers just because they are slightly different than me. This is just a small step in the right direction, but I believe we all have a role in abolishing these injustices that are still prevalent so many years after our nation eradicated slavery. Golf is a sport that is predominantly full of white people and I believe that is why it is even more to bring these injustices to my peers' eyes to create change. Everyone can do their part in changing this narrative one day at a time. I hope you can donate any amount to stomp out these problems our nation currently faces involving basic human rights for all!
Your dollars will not only support the Center for Racial Injustice in Education, but also will impact other junior golfers as well through the ACE Grant program. Your contributions will help talented junior golfers with a desire to better their life through playing junior golf and earning a college golf scholarship. These juniors lack the financial resources to compete at the national level to gain exposure to these scholarships. They need our help as well. The scholarships these juniors earn through their play change the course of their life and the life of their future family.
My goal is to raise $1,000. Would you consider donating and making a difference?
