12 champions crowned in week 3 of summer

KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational

  • Fifteen-year-old Harmie Constantino of Taguig, Philippines, won her third consecutive AJGA event in the Girls Division. Constantino was four strokes back of the second-round leader, Jayna Choi of Collierville, Tennesse, heading into the final round. She carded four birdies and an eagle on No. 16 to secure the win at 6-under-par.
  • Karl Vilips of Wesley Chapel, Florida, won the Boys Division after a birdie on No. 18 in a sudden-death playoff with Cannon Claycomb of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Currently ranked No. 17 in Polo Golf Rankings, this was Vilips' third career AJGA win and first win of 2016.
  • Each round, the four lowest girls and boys 18-hole scores counted towards the team score for that round, and the team with the lowest score after the third round was named champions. The Boys team carded three rounds under par and won by four strokes with a 22-under-par total.

Mill Creek Foundation Junior All-Star

  • Maxwell Moldovan of Uniontown, Ohio, won the Boys Division after carding a tournament total of 8-under-par 202. Moldovan medaled in the qualifier to give him a spot in his first AJGA event.
  • Reese Guzman of Kahului, Hawaii,won the Girls Division with a tournament total 6-under-par 204. Guzman also medaled in the qualifier and carded 15 birdies for the tournament.

AJGA Junior All-Star at Spring Valley

  • First-and second-round leader Rachel Kuehn of Asheville, North Carolina, had her first AJGA win in the Girls Division of the AJGA Junior All-Star at Spring Valley. Kuehn shot a tournament total of 219, and carded six birdies on the week.
  • Rodrigo Rodas of Guatemala, won the Boys Division carding four birdies in the final round, giving him the lead with a tournament total of 219 and a one-stroke victory.

  • Chris Nido of Palmetto Bay, Florida, won the Boys Division with a tournament total 6-under-par 210. Nido carded five birdies and eagled No. 5 in the final round for a 1-over-par 73.
  • Sophie Guo of Orlando, Florida, won the Girls Division after making a birdie on No. 10 in a playoff with Julia Matzat of Parkland, Florida. Guo and Matzat carded tournament totals of 222. Guo had birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 to put her in contention in the final round and force a playoff.

  • Boys Division winner, Levi Valadez of San Antonio, carded 17 birdies in three rounds en route to his first AJGA win. Valadez had a tournament total of 9-under-par 207 to give him a two-stroke win over Tommy Boone of Plano, Texas. Valadez has signed his Letter of Intent with Kansas State University and will continue his golf career there in the fall.  
  • Beryl Wang, of Sugar Land, Texas won the Girls Division with a tournament total of 2-over-par 218. Wang, a Transamerica Scholastic All-American, will be continuing her golf career at Yale University in the fall.

 

AJGA Reno / Tahoe Junior at ArrowCreek

  • Ashkaan Hakim of San Ramon, California, won the Boys Division after carding 11 birdies and an eagle through three rounds carding a tournament total of 3-over-par 219. This was Hakim’s first AJGA win.
  • Miranda Wang of Pleasanton, California, won the Girls Division after leading the first and second rounds. Wang is verbally committed to Duke University and took home her first AJGA win. She carded four birdies in the final round for a 1-under-par 71 and tournament total of even-par 216.
