Park Wins in Dramatic Fashion at Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship
Puyat earns first AJGA win at TPC Craig Ranch

MCKINNEY, Texas — Kristen Park of Buena Park, Calif., birdied the first playoff hole to win the Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship. She finished the tournament at 2-over-par 218. Marcel Puyat of Makati, Philippines, shot a 2-under-par 70 Sunday for an even-par 216 tournament total to claim victory in the Boys Division at TPC Craig Ranch.

The Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship was a 54-hole stroke play event conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The tournament field boasted 51 boys and 21 girls, ages 12-18, from 16 states, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines. The Boys Division played the par-72 course at 7,079 yards and the Girls Division played at 6,104 yards.

Four-time Rolex Junior All-American Park finished her final round tied atop the leaderboard with April McCoy of Carrollton, Texas. Park rolled in a birdie putt on the first playoff hole to clinch the victory. Despite leading after two rounds, Park had to come from behind to force a playoff.

“I was three shots off the lead, and then birdied No. 12 to get within two,” Park said. “I knew I had a chance then. I had to be patient.”

McCoy finished second in the Girls Division. One-shot back, Michelle Lee of Mississauga, Ontario, took third place at 3-over-par 219.

In the Boys Division, Puyat captured his first AJGA victory by playing steadily all weekend. Three birdies in the final round propelled him into the lead. Entering the final day tied for fourth, he developed a strategy to win his first AJGA Championship.

“My game plan was to make pars on the tough holes and be aggressive on the easy holes,” said Puyat, ranked No. 87 in the Polo Golf Rankings. “I knew all I had to do was stick to that plan to win.”

Will Zalatoris of Plano, Texas, finished 1-over-par 217 for second place in the Boys Division. Lee McCoy of Palm Harbor, Fla., shot the low round of the day, 68, to tie for third at 2-over-par 218 with AJ McInerney of Henderson, Nev., and second-round leader David Lee of Houston.
