Greene Owns the Greens in Boys Division at Weston Hills Country Club
Lui leads the way in the Girls Division at AJGA Florida Junior

WESTON, Fla. — Keith Greene of DeBary, Fla., used four birdies on the back nine to take the lead of the AJGA Florida Junior with a 4-under-par 68. Marika Liu of Beverly Hills, Calif., carded a 1-over-par 73 to lead the Girls Division.

The AJGA Florida Junior is a 54-hole tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at the Weston Hills Country Club — Tour Course. The event features 56 boys and 20 girls, ages 12-18, from six states, China, the Philippines, Paraguay and Columbia. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,954 yards while the Girls Division is playing the course at 6,109 yards.

Greene kept a smooth swing going all day to help him reach greens.

“I drove it well today and putted well,” Greene said. “I could have hit more greens, but I put a good swing on my drives so I was happy with it.”

Three players, Domenico Geminiani of Bradenton, Fla., Nicholas Maruri of Mexico City, and Parker Jones of Gainesville, Fla., are all tied for second two shots behind Greene with 2-under-par 70s. Robert De Biase of North Miami, Fla., is in fifth after posting a 1-under-par 71.

In the Girls Division, Liu hit every green on the front nine en-route to a 3-under-par 33 to jump out to an early lead.

“I was pretty content with my round today,” Liu said. “I gave myself a lot of opportunities for birdies and made some of my putts.”

Alexandra Perez of Miami is in second with a 2-over-par 74. Kyle Roig of Pembroke Pines, Fla., is in third after carding a 4-over-par 76.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.

Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 400 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel.

Wednesday's second-round tee times for the AJGA Florida Junior will run from 7:30 — 9:18 a.m. off of tee Nos. 1 and 10 at Weston Hills Country Club — Tour Course. For more information, please call Tournament Director Sean Riley at (678) 617-2420.
