Talley Holds a 14-Stroke Advantage at the AJGA Huntsville Junior presented by The Huntsville Athletic Club
Dozier shoots low back-nine to lead Boys Division at The Ledges

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Tolver Dozier of Dothan, Ala., shot a 4-under-par back nine to lead the Boys Division with a 1-over-par 143. Emma Talley of Princeton, Ky., continued her strong play shooting a 5-under-par 66 to bring her two-day total to a staggering 9-under-par 133 to top the Girls Division. Talley's round two total breaks a course record for women at The Ledges.

The AJGA Huntsville Junior presented by The Huntsville Athletic Club is a 54-hole stroke-play tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at The Ledges. The field features 75 boys and 24 girls, ages 12-18, from 17 states. The Boys Division is playing the par-71 course at 7,044 yards while the Girls Division is playing at 6,029 yards.

Dozier used four birdies on the back nine, including back-to-back birdies to finish the round.

“I tried to play really patient today,” Dozier explained. “I hit the ball well on the front, but got some bad breaks. I was able to get a lot of those back on the back nine by playing consistent.”

Tied for second are A.J. Crouch of Jacksonville, Fla., Tyler Thomas of Beaumont, Texas and John Boehme of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., who all are at 2-over-par 144. Tyler Smith of Brentwood, Tenn., and Robby Prater of Birmingham, Ala., sit in a tie for fifth with 5-over-par 147s.

Talley extended her lead to 14 strokes after making some adjustments to her club selections.

“Today I changed a few of my clubs which helped me have no bogeys,” Talley said. “I only missed one fairway and not many greens, so I was able to keep it in play all day which helps a lot. I had a good day and am having a good week, so I hope that keeps up [for tomorrow].”

Moving up to second place in the Girls Division is Janie Jackson of Huntsville, Ala., who shot a 3-over-par 74 to bring her 36-hole total to a 5-over-par 147. Sarah Harris of Hermitage, Tenn., sits two shots back of Jackson with a two-day sum of 7-over-par 149.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.

Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 400 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Charles Howell III, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel.

Thursday's final-round tee times for the AJGA Huntsville Junior presented by The Huntsville Athletic Club will begin at 7 am and will run until 12:10 pm off of the No. 1 tee at The Ledges. For more information, please call Tournament Director Tommy Tangtiphaiboontana at (678) 617-2424.
